3–5. Rubbing from stone tablet

Two stone tablets, which still stand in front of the Dayan Pagoda in the city of Xi’an (the capital of the Tang dynasty), are excellent examples of chen-shu. The tablets, called Yanta Sheng Jiao Xu, were written by a notable minister of the Tang dynasty, Chu Sui Liang, who was also an outstanding calligrapher.
