23–3. Alan Fletcher, Victoria and Albert Museum logo
Fletcher discussed the V&A logo in Beware Wet Paint: “The already classic symbol for the Victoria & Albert Museum (designed in 1989) is in a typeface originally designed by Giambattista Bodoni. The problem centered on endowing the three characters with a single personality. The solution was to divide and remove half of one letter, and add and insert an ampersand to reinstate the missing crossbar.”
